ST. ANDREW’S NURSING HOME

St. Andrew’s Nursing Home (SANH) is a service of St. Andrew’s Mission Hospital (SAMH). SANH aims to deliver holistic and person-centred care to the residents in a supportive environment.

Combining all our four nursing homes (Buangkok, Henderson, Queenstown and Dover), SAMH provides a total capacity of 1125 nursing home beds. SAMH also supports our sister organisation Singapore Anglican Community Services (SACS) in operating St. Andrew’s Nursing Home (Taman Jurong).

For more information on SANH, please log on to SANH website.

St. Andrew’s Nursing Home (SANH) (Buangkok) started operations in November 2013. We care for 300 residents with psychiatric and dementia conditions, providing nursing, therapy and psycho-social activities to improve their well-being.

All staff and volunteers are driven by the desire to be the light that will brighten the lives of our residents through our love, compassion and care.

Services

Residential Care

To help residents achieve better quality of life, SANH (Buangkok) provides a spectrum of rehabilitation programmes, which include occupational therapy, physiotherapy and psycho-social therapy. All three programmes are put together to help the residents develop their potential and maximise their abilities in a safe and supportive environment.

Occupational Therapy

Led by our occupational therapists, residents benefit from engaging in activities such as painting, cooking, wood work, and music. Some residents are also trained with basic vocational skills to equip them in seeking external employment opportunities when they can be discharged from the Home.

Physiotherapy

Led by our physiotherapists, we work with our residents regularly to improve or maintain their mobility functions. We aim to help them gain the endurance and strength to walk independently with less frequent use of mobility aids and reduce falls.

Social Activities

To ensure that our residents are meaningfully engaged at the nursing home, a wide variety of activities such as drumming and gardening were curated under the AIC Wellness Support Programme.

Psycho-Social Therapy

With the help of psychologists and counsellors, the residents with psychiatric conditions are able to improve their mental and cognitive states and re-acquire social and interaction skills as part of their journey towards community integration and acceptance. We have many weekly social activities like pet therapy, gardening, karaoke, music therapy and arts and craft programmes to keep our residents engaged. Through regular social programmes and outings led by staff and volunteers, residents are able to step out of the Nursing Home and enjoy their time outside.

Our Facilities

Dementia-friendly Therapeutic Garden

Motivated by its vision to provide holistic and person-centered care, the nursing home included a therapeutic garden that is multi-sensory, vibrant and interactive within its compound to enhance the psychosocial wellbeing of its residents.
